Global bioenergy: problems and perspectives.
This article explores the potential future of bioenergy. The evaluation criteria used are energy analysis and the effects of climate change in general. Over the next few decades, the use of new bioenergies looks set to spread; hence this evaluation aims to take account of possible future conditions. Prior research has revealed some very disparate estimations regarding the energy ratio and technical potential. From an economic perspective and in view of climate change, certain raw materials are considered attractive for bioenergy. However, power plantations are limited by the availability of water rather than the availability of land, this latter factor being an additional imitation for bioenergy in general.
Keywords: bioenergy, energy ratio, climate change.
