Invitation to ecological economics. A review of its fundamental principles.
Ecological economics is a current of thought that has been developing since the second half of the 20th Century. It aims to base the study of economics on different theoretical foundations to those of conventional or neoclassical economics, with a view to reconciling economic thought with the material dimension of economics. Ecological economics advocates an approach to life sciences and the recovery of research interests passed over by orthodoxy. The article reviews the fundamental principles of ecological economics, highlighting its innovative elements and the epistemological and ethical scope of this approach.
