Genetically modified organisms: another technocratic revolution. "Applying the principle of precaution to genetically modified foods."
The technology of genetic modification applied to agriculture has proved to be inefficient and economically ruinous for farmers, as clearly shown by the exhaustive research conducted by Charles Benbrook. Furthermore, the introduction of GMO in agriculture creates a monopoly for a handful of multinationals over food production, which endangers sovereignty and world food safety. This technology promises to bring an end to hunger in the world, but the truth of the matter is those without food cannot afford it. Taken to the extreme, this technology, with cellular reproduction of proteins or fats taking place in industrial vats, could reproduce the commercial parts of vegetables or animals. Agriculture, farming, fishing would be unnecessary; farmers and fishermen would be unnecessary.
